Came across and interesting issue today when deploying SharePoint 2010 on a development machine, with “New-SPConfigurationDatabase” throwing the error:

Could not find stored procedure ‘sp_dboption’.

The solution is to install SharePoint 2010 SP1, which adds support to SharePoint 2010 for SQL Server 2012
